Covid hoành hành, BV công thành nơi điều trị bệnh nhân dương tính với SARS-CoV-2, nên nhà có ai bệnh gì khác, căng lắm mới đưa đi BV tư. Dịch bệnh đã đoạn trường sợ hãi, đi BV tư, gồng hơn Hà Châu cũng thất điên, bát đảo vì nỗi lo tiền tạm ứng, tiền test nhanh, tiền dịch vụ… hằm bà lằng xá xíu. Được cái, y bác sĩ tận tình, ngọt hơn mía lùi. Suy cho cùng, bệnh nhân cũng là khách hàng, là “thượng đế”.
Nửa đêm, ở BV, giọng đàn bà quê khóc kể, tức tưởi nhưng nghe cứ chan chát, vọng xuyên mấy tầng lầu… Gái điều dưỡng chạy ra: Chị ơi, phòng em săn sóc đặc biệt, toàn người già, bệnh nặng, chị nói nhỏ nhỏ dùm!
– Ờ ờ, tui xin lỗi cô, nhưng mẹ bà nó tức…!
Chị kể, ông cậu bị tiểu đường nặng, không thuốc thang gì nên mệt suốt, bà mợ và đám con sợ Covid, không ai đưa đi viện cả. Bữa chị ghé ngang, ông lơ mơ rồi, thương quá, chị gọi xe cấp cứu, xốc đi BV.
– Bác sĩ dặn ăn uống kỹ một chút, chia thành nhiều bữa… Ổng có chịu đâu, ăn đủ thứ, đường huyết vọt vọt lên! Tui kiềm lại, đường từ 300 xuống còn 200, mừng gần chết mà ổng cứ chửi tui miết. Còn nói tao đâu cần mày nuôi, mày nuôi làm chi giờ hông cho tau ăn – vừa nói, chị vừa đưa tay chùi nước mũi, quèn quẹt vào ống quần.
– Bác sĩ dặn, ổng yếu lắm, đái, ỉa tại giường. Có chịu đâu, người ta truyền nước biển, ổng giựt ra, chai bể, dây kim văng tứ tung… Tui năn nỉ, cậu ơi, nằm tại giường đi, đái con đổ, ỉa con hốt, chứ cậu cứ đi vầy, bác sĩ la con, mắc cỡ gần chết. Ổng chửi, chưn tao, tao đi, thằng nào, con nào cản hả?
Chị ấm ức, cả tuần nuôi cậu, chị tốn mấy chục triệu. Bỏ bê chồng con, ăn uống ba trời, ba dựt vì có ai biết nấu nướng gì đâu.
Điện bà mợ, kêu phụ chút đỉnh: – Ai sai, ai mượn, tiền đâu mà gửi.
Điện đám con ông cậu: – Bà đưa về BV huyện đi (ủa, BV huyện thành BV điều trị Covid, làm sao đưa được mà tụi nó kêu tui đưa về đó hả em?), nhưng bà nuôi à, Covid tùm lum, tụi tui không ai nuôi được đâu!
… Chị khóc với chồng, lồng lộng trong đêm: Anh ơi, chắc em về, đi bộ em cũng về. Em nuôi ổng, lo từng ly, từng tí, mà ổng chửi em suốt!
…
Gái điều dưỡng lại chạy ra. Chị đứng dậy, quờ tay vỗ bành bạch đít quần: – Tui xin lỗi cô, tại tui tức quá! Thôi, để tui vô cho ổng ăn cháo, giờ chắc ổng đói nữa rồi!
